Croqueteria was born in 2012 as a neighborhood kitchen project in Alvalade, Lisbon — and like so many good ideas, it was born from a conversation between friends and a true passion for croquettes. When no one yet believed that a snack could be the centerpiece of a restaurant, we risked everything with a menu exclusively dedicated to croquettes.
Today, with stores in Alvalade and at Time Out Market Lisboa, we are a reference for those looking for a croquette made with quality, creativity and respect for Portuguese tradition. We use prime cuts of meat, shred partridges by hand and even make our own stew to turn into croquettes. Our bestseller, the Traditional, is based on a family recipe — and the secret is in the combination of texture, flavor and that touch of mustard that takes it to the next level.
We serve ready-made croquettes or take-away and frozen versions — so you can enjoy our quality wherever and whenever you want.
In 2014, we entered Time Out Market Lisbon through a competition. And we won. Since then, we have been a constant presence in this iconic city market, serving thousands of croquettes per week. Here, the experience is faster, but the quality is the same — from Traditional to Grain Curry, each croquette tells a story.
Even in a “grab and go” environment, we are still true to our mission: to serve unforgettable croquettes, even to those who try them for the first time.
In 2025, we return to Alvalade, the neighborhood where Croqueteria was born. This space is our home, where we created a store designed for the neighborhood, with a relaxed atmosphere and the soul of a Portuguese snack bar. A space with a terrace, tiles, handmade lamps and “neo-traditional” decor that reflects the balance between old and new.
More than just a croquette restaurant, the Alvalade store is a Lisbon meeting point, where freshly brewed beers and freshly made croquettes are shared by neighbors, friends and families.
You can find our ready-to-eat croquettes in our physical stores:
• Time Out Market Lisbon – Ribeira Market, Av. 24 de Julho
• Alvalade – Cel. Marques Leitao, 11A
You can also order through Glovo, from any of the stores.
No! They are designed to go straight into the oven — no frying and no hassle.
At the moment, the only gluten-free option we can safely guarantee is our soup of the day (available in physical stores). We have already seriously investigated the possibility of creating gluten-free croquettes, but ensuring 100% safe production involves logistical challenges that we have not yet been able to overcome. We continue with this ambition for the future!
